“The Bones of Blood Work” Prompts

Bamboo Shoots Non-Contest Submissions

Aloha writers! Here is where we will keep track of the prompts from Donald Carreira Ching’s blog series The Bones of Blood Work. Feel free to share your pieces and comment with aloha on work that others share. Come back here often for new prompts.

If you would like to participate in our monthly Bamboo Shoots Writing Challenge. Check here for this month’s prompts and starters.

Prompt from The Bones of “Kāneʻohe Town”

Using only the senses, take us on a walking tour of an area important to you or one of your characters. As much as possible, go beyond sight and avoid exposition. Don’t be afraid to play with diction, detail, juxtaposition, and point of view.

Submit in the form below and mahalo for writing with us. Your piece will appear on our Bamboo Shoots page and on the homepage footer!
