A Prudent Young Woman

A prudent soul, she would never accept a ride from a stranger, but she sees a crutch propped next to his seat. She's in a rush, so she hops in his car.
Immediately he says, "I have a nice house. Will you please come and live with me?"
She blinks. "Um—oh …"
"As my mistress, yes."
Silence for a few blocks. "Let me out at the Bank of Hawaii," she says.
At the bank he turns toward her. He's nice looking, with kind eyes.
She touches his arm, "I'm sorry," she says, and then waves as he drives away.
