Still Around

Rebuilt Dad’s home-made wood lathe – a salvaged 1940’s G.E. motor with a faceplate on the shaft; scrap wood, brass, and steel for the bed, tool rest, and tailstock. He ground his favorite turning tool out of an old screwdriver.
Don’t use the machine much myself, but it’s there, and it does come in handy on occasion, and that’s part of the reason for the rebuild. The other part is that every so often I’ll come across one of Dad’s practice turnings; a small daydream in wood, spun just for the fun of it.
