For the Sake of Better Angels (verse & reverse)

Prompt: Feed your demons/ malasadas

Bottom Up (demons first)

If you feed your demons a dozen malasadas
they will want a dozen manapuas
to balance out the sweet;
a dozen demon-sized cups of Orange Bang
to balance out the salty
and sate their thirst;
a live Hawaiian music band to play
while they digest
on a punee big enough for them all to lay,
bellies full and beady eyes blinking drowsily;
a dozen pareos in patterns of stars and fire
to keep the breeze away;
a crunchy snack for when they wake
seasame-peanut candies to occupy their sharp little teeth.
If half your demons have an unknown peanut allergy,
your better angels prevail.

Top Down (angels first)

Your better angels prevail
if half your demons have an unknown peanut allergy.
Seasame-peanut candy to occupy their sharp little teeth,
a crunchy snack for when they wake.
To keep away the breeze,
a dozen pareos in patterns of stars and fire.
Bellies full and beady eyes blinking drowsily,
on a punee big enough for them all to lay
while they digest;

and sate their thirst.
To balance out the salty,
a dozen demon-sized cups of Orange Bang.
To balance out the sweet,

All pau! 🙂
