Why I Close My Eyes

I close my eyes to see the darkness inside. The raging waves of black brush harshly on my rocky shore.

I close my eyes to fight the spirits of the deep, to block out the shining light from above.

My bones melt into onyx pools of ore, as if to fuel the night in my heart. I fall deeper into the abyss of both mind and heart, screaming for air, but find no solace. To suffocate my sorrows in a breathless space glows faintly within.

And that is why I close my eyes.
