BAMBOO RIDGE E-News for 10/02/11 — Lee Cataluna's Wine & Words celebration is here : )

Aloha to all you friends of BAMBOO RIDGE, and a very Happy October to all. Happy Birthday to all the October babies.

The seasonal holidays are coming up. Have a great Halloween, but before you go out on the 31st, make sure you enter the October edition of The Great BR Fishing & Wishing 100 – 100 Contest. Believe it or not, there are 20 writing themes for October. TWENTY. 2-0. Pretty spooky, huh?

Check out the October writing themes and the pieces that inspired them:

Once I started reading Lee Cataluna's new novel, THREE YEARS ON DOREEN'S SOFA, I couldn't put it down. Actually, I read it in two sittings — had to finally sleep and go to work, so I finished it the next night. Great story, Lee!

If you want to help Lee and BR celebrate the release of Lee's novel, there are still seats available for this Wednesday's Beer & Books — uh, I mean Wine & Words event.

Kumu Kahua Theatre presents, as part of its Dark Night Series, Wine & Words: An Evening with Lee Cataluna and Friends. You can read about it here:

The eating and beer — uh, I mean WINE drinking starts up at 7:30, followed by Lee's reading at 8:00. Reserve your seat by calling 626.1481 or buy your tickets online:

If you miss having a beer — uh, I mean a glass of wine with Lee this Wednesday, you can catch her — minus the be–wine, at Native Books, Ward Warehouse, this coming Saturday, October 8, at 3:00:

Aghast that you missed her at Native Books? Then see her at the UH Manoa Art Auditorium the next day, Sunday, October 9, at 3:00:

Didn't make that one either? Then you should have planned ahead and caught her this Tuesday, October 4, at UH Hilo, 7:00. But canna time travel, yeah? Too bad. You Hilo folks can see her even before she does Wine and Words. Ho da lucky.

And you know Lee is not going to leave out Maui, right? If anything, she probably would have loved to have W&W on Maui. Gee, I hope Charlotte Botehlo can make this one. Any of you Maui folks who know Lee's Baldwin High School English and speech teacher, please let Charlotte know that Lee will be at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center this Thursday, October 6 at 6:30:

Okay, I think that's all for now. Until next time, everybody take good care, keep writing, and love your families. And just to remind everyone:
