Happy Year of the Dragon! Here are the rules for the NEW BR online writing contest : )

Happy Year of the Dragon to all of you. This is the 411 on the new BAMBOO SHOOTS online writing contest. In honor of the Chinese New Year, we’re calling it:

The Great BR Year of the Dragon Contest

Here are the rules for the contest. Continuing the idea of posting covers and pieces/excerpts from past issues, there are two choices to help stimulate your writing. Here are the two for March 2012:

From Issue Number 23, Wayne Wang’s Chan Is Missing

From Issue Number 24, “The Return of the Moon,” by Dana Naone

Unlike The Great BR Fishing & Wishing 100 – 100 Contest, there are no theme choices, and there is no upper or lower word limit. After reading the pieces, YOU decide on your writing theme, and YOU decide whether you want your piece to be 30 words, 300 words, 3000 words — well, you get it, right?

For anyone who may have trouble choosing a writing theme, I’d suggest possibilities such as “missing,” “easy answers,” “a letter,” or “walking late at night.”
