Family, Mine

Rora came up to me. “We had a fight.”
“So?” I asked.
“We have to talk.” She said determinedly.
I dismissed her. “Once a fight is pau, it’s pau. No need for talk.”
“In your family, sure. In ours, we talk it out.” She stared me down.

“You guys never say ‘thanks.’” She scoffed.
“Family doesn’t need to say ‘Thank you’ to each other.” I informed her.
“Uh, yeah, they do!” She rolled her eyes.

“Why are you always so mean to each other?” She asked us.
“Because we’re family.” I said, confused.
She just stared back, uncomprehending.
