Writing Process for “Viewpoints”

For “Viewpoints,” here’s what I did:

• From information I got from Stannard’s Honor Killing, I made up dialogue based on what I thought nurses and Grace would say in the hospital. Although Grace used the word "nigger" to describe Hawaiians in an interview, I don't know if she used this word in the hospital.

• Sometime after the hospital visit, Grace moved and had a Hawaiian neighbor. Grace was displeased that a Hawaiian was living in her neighborhood. I included this viewpoint in the dialogue discussing Hawaiians in her neighborhood in general since Grace couldn't complain specifically about her neighbor until later.

• The test results are accurate. I let the nurses discuss the test results in this scene, but I don't know if the nurses actually knew this information at the time of the visit.
