A Letter to the Judge

A Letter to the Judge

This wasn’t supposed to be my life.
At sixteen I had a job with a future in my family’s business.
I chose to do something foolish, steal a car on a bet,
not taking anyone else into consideration.
It is ten year later; I used drugs as my excuse to fall.
Drugs took the place of home and family. I am homeless.
I have been in eleven rehabs. I can’t get a job.
Please help! I need someone to hold me accountable.
I hope to be a productive member of society again.

Sincerely,

A Prisoner
