Sticky Little Fingers

Advertising magazine racks line the streets.
Vibrantly colored, they read “free.”
They intrigue a young boy going to Foodland.
“Does “free” mean we can just take it?”
“Yeah, you don’t have to pay.”
Magazines racks also line the aisles
of cash registers.
With glossy pictures, colorful celebrities,
and without any price tags,
they mislead a young boy in Foodland.
"The magazines outside were free, so these must be free too."
He snatches the coolest looking one,
dashes past the register,
dancing and singing for the security cameras,
“I got something free!”
He didn’t understand much then, and he still doesn't.
