Going Away

I’m going away, in these few precious days

I am not okay, It feels like I am in a daze

Watching as my life passes me by.

The hour goes like a sad goodbye.

Idle hands are the devil’s workshop

No lights but the moonlight

I watch it all pass like a bus stop.

No sound because I’m airtight.

Uncertainty, my heart is on display.

Carelessly, my thoughts in cold decay.

I’m going away, in these few precious days

But today, It feels like I am in a daze

Thank you so much for a poem that speaks clearly to the theme of “going away.” I enjoyed the end rhymes that help to move the language forward as well as the strong images presented poetically (e.g., moonlight, bus stop and heart). The use of metaphors, layered with multiple meanings demonstrate a depth and cleverness in this poem.
