Like his Army buddies, he decided to attend college on the GI Bill. School sure beat dodging bombs and bullets, but there was one thing he chiefly needed more. Every night he asked God to help him out.
One evening, he and his friends stopped by the student union for beers.
He noticed her immediately, and it was love.
Walking over, he said, “Excuse me.”
She stared at him.
“Stand up, and if you’re not taller than I am, I’ll take you to a movie.”
She stood. He was a bit shorter.
“Let’s go,” she said.
And they lived happily, for the most part, ever after.
