Walk With Me

Along the Ala Wai in the cool heat of day’s end

We might see walkers

Rushing by without smiles

Intent on closing the gap to unknown destinations.

Hand in hand, Thich Nhat Hanh walks with me,

Slowly, we walk without a destination in mind

Each step connects us in peace

We breathe and step, breathe and step

Gently on Mother Earth, who grounds and nourishes us.

Van Gogh wants to walk with me

To see if we look at things the same way,

We gaze at the smooth green water

Fish with rounded mouths rise for air

As artists, we see more than meets the eye

Looking beyond and beneath what is there

For interpretation on canvas or on paper.

Come walk with me.
