Even beautiful has trouble finding acceptance

A chameleon.

She was a unique blend of worlds that rendered her appearance beautiful in any region of the earth. Her olive skin changed from deep chestnut to sandstone with the seasons. Her eyes reflected only intensity that it was uncomfortably intrusive to stare at them too long. Her hair, thick and dark as midnight that blanketed all the world as it slept so the moon could finally seek admiration as the sole light against the heavens, gave her the illusion of vulnerability and authority.

She belonged everywhere and nowhere. Her soul longed to belong to another, but she was engineered to adapt and survive rather than take root and make a home. As time bended, she surrendered into believing she liked her loneliness.

After all, as beautiful as she was, who could ever love a ghost?
