Through Grace’s Eyes

This poem is written through Grace’s (Thalia's mother) point of view. After reading Stannard’s book, I wrote a poem about Grace’s reaction to the hung jury.

In creating this poem, I wanted to include Grace’s strong will to convince others that these men should be held in prison. I also wanted to include many of the racist thoughts that were common in the environment of the 1930s and reactions to the verdict.
