Shreds of Love

Blooming hibiscus
Nodding in the noonday breeze
Meijiros warbling
High in distant trees

My heart's now relieved
Heartache and pain tightly gripped
So much one can take
Finally they've slipped

Dried traces of tears
There's no more on cheeks to spill
Not even enough
eyes wellings to fill

No second thoughts come
There's no bitterness I hold
Shreds of love I cling
Wax not my heart cold

The sinews of hemp
Nostrils last scent in the air
Forgiveness I ask
Midst a toppling chair

I know there's someone
Who cares what becomes of me
Let the following
My epitaph be

"Blooming hibiscus
Nodding in the noonday breeze
Meijiros warbling
High in distant trees…"

Aloha Ruel…
