Long time neva write someting…
Not Pau Yet–Nicole the BR blogger, newsletter editor, and UH grad student is off this summer to do an internship at Copper Canyon Press. We’ll miss her but she’ll be back with stories I’m sure of the literary scene in the Pacific NW.
Podcasts–thanks to Pete, the webguy, for starting to post Eric Chock’s poems. Try give them a listen…he get that nice FM radio voice…and I like that he introduces each poem. Watch for the link soon to the Aloha Shorts podcasts so you can catch the show even if you miss the live broadcast. There’s also Joe Tsujimoto’s reading for you to listen to and more stuff coming soon.
Hawaii Book and Music Festival–Joy, our managing editor, is taking a week off to recover from two days of holding down the fort at the HBMF. The BR Word Bag Poetry writing activity headed by Jean Toyama and Ann Inoshita (read their renshi poems under the "Features" tab at the top of the page) got over 200 participants to pick 3 words from the word bag and then to write a line of poetry using one, two, or all three words. All the entries and the winners will be posted soon. Humbling: seeing your own book go for $1 on the BR sale table. If you missed it, watch the website for "Cheap Sale" specials throughout the summer. As long as you READ da book and no use um fo start your hibachi.
See you bumbye.
